ColorDIR 1.2 Colorful improvement over DOS's DIR command Registration $ 10.00
SDN_UTIL MAY93 DIRECTORY COLOR ATTRIBUTE INTERNATIONAL CLUSTER BLANEY
FILES: colrdir2.sdn
Author: Loren Blaney
DISCOVER THE SHOCKING TRUTH HOW CLUSTERS WASTE YOUR HARD DRIVE SPACE!
SEE HOW BIG YOUR SUBDIRECTORIES ARE IN A SINGLE GLANCE!
ColorDIR improves on DOS's DIR command by applying human engi-
neering. Color is used to make it easy to spot different types of
files. Simple commands sort by name, extension, date, or size.
Choose six columns for a compact display, or two columns to show
all the details such as size, date, time, and attributes.
ColorDIR reveals how much of your disk space is wasted. When DOS
allocates space for a file, it does it in clusters ranging from
512 to 8192 bytes depending on the size of your disk. A file only
one byte long gets a complete cluster. On my hard drive, which is
210 megabytes, about 20 megabytes are wasted!
ColorDIR shows the sizes of subdirectories (including any subdir-
ectories nested inside of them). This is essential when you want to
know where all your hard drive space went, or when you're about to
copy some subdirectories to a floppy using XCOPY/S and you want to
see if they're going to fit.
Other Features:
* Has a clean, compact display that doesn't waste precious screen
space with annoying copyright and registration notices.
* Works with paths and wildcards exactly like DOS's DIR command.
* Shows the complete path for the directory being listed, the
volume label, and the current date and time.
* Sorts directories first.
* Shows hidden and system files (if desired).
* Puts commas in large numbers to make them easy to read.
* Automatically displays the international date and time formats set
up by DOS's country command, and uses short legends that non-
English users recognize.
* Pauses when screen is full, and automatically supports displays
with more than 25 lines, such as EGA and VGA modes.
* Works with monochrome as well as color displays.
* Allows output to be redirected to a printer or file.
A customizer program lets you set up your own file extensions and
change the color of everything. It lets you select upper or lower
case names, increasing or decreasing order for dates and sizes, and
it gives you the option to show or hide system and hidden files.
It even lets you select two styles of border lines.
Requirements:
ColorDIR works on any PC running MS-DOS 2.0 or later. It's very
easy to use and requires no modification to your DOS. Try ColorDIR
once and you'll be hooked!
